Jean-Claude Trichet, accused of complicity in the publication of misleading accounts by the Credit Lyonnais bank, has to await his sentence before he can take over the post of European Central Bank Chief. Although in most countries, being accused of abusing your position for personal financial gain is looked down upon, it seems to warrant a promotion in France. I guess that explains how Chirac became president.
And they wonder why England doesn't want to adopt the Euro as its national currency. I suggest moving your money out of the Euro once this guy takes over folks, he makes Enron look like an honest mistake. Seriously, do the french look for the most corrupt man they can find and give him the highest position of power?
Yeah, Saddam Hussein could escape to France, run for public office and win.
I wrote my B.A. thesis on the economics of the Euro. Wonder how long before the Germans get tired of having to share monetary policy controlled by a much weaker and less efficient French economy?
