Public Announcement

For some time now, some trolls have come to believe that they could post whatever they wanted to, however irrelevant their comments may be, that they could insult us and our readers just for the pleasure of venting their spleen (and because they had nothing better to say) and that they could post in a foreign language without translating their comments into English.

Well, I've got news for you: this time is now over.

Beginning now, any comment to my posts that is irrelevant, offensive and/or not in English, will be automatically deleted.

If you have a problem with that, go create your own blog for your whining needs. The Internet is big enough for anyone to exercize their right to free speech. But we don't have to suffer your logorrheas. We are not your shrinks.

Remember we're talking about France here. Responding to a post about France's torture instructors in Argentina by an article about the CIA, Pinochet and Chile, or Guantanamo Bay is irrelevant.
You're concerned about what's going on in Guantanamo Bay? Fine. Go create your own blog to talk about it.

And saying what we write is false without proving it is also irrelevant.

You just have to keep in mind four things: staying on-topic, being polite, writing in English and giving sources. Keep this in mind, and you'll be fine. If it's too hard for you... too bad! You have the right to leave. We are not holding you back.

Thank you.

Please stop cut & paste: that's pathetic.

What Do i read this morning !!!

Carine lost completely mind, it's sure.

Carine , I would agree with you on one point : Stop insult.
But I perfectly remember having insulted first by Cozmogrill and you ("you are a moron").
You open a door, don't be receive toreveive wind...
So if you want to do this , be fair, and don't erase comments only from "the French". Some people like Cozmogrill have insult as a life value.

Second : I'm sorry ,if you speak about French instructor in Torture, I don't see why an article the CIA supporting Torture is irrelevant.
Both are about Torture.
90% of the reader or posters are either Americans or French, the debate go quickly to a French-American "fight" and so it's difficult to don't use all the crimes that commited the US as an argument, when someone on front of you argue that the US never commited any, and suggest that only France is perfidious.....

Or maybe you don't want any debate, Carine ?

I wanted to write:
You open a door, don't be surprised to receive wind...
sorry, need a coffee.

SUGGESTIONS TO PAVEFRANCE'S AUTHORITIES, BLOGGERS AND MY "TROLL COLLEAGUES"

I will tell one thing I like here (tellling what I dislike would be too long...)

-I like the free comment facility.
-I respect the fact that, until now, none of my comments where deleted or "post edited" as it is too common on others blogs.

I hope you will keep alive the only thing I like here : YOUR SENSE OF FREE SPEACH

The recent "cut and past game" just loose all expressions in kilometers of meaningless text. repeated over and over, it might drive the webmaster(s) to go into heavy censorship destroying then the main, if not unique ,interst of this website.

Here are two ideas to keep your bloge open to comments and less vulnerable to overload.

First
Limit each comment to, for example, 5000 characters (It is more than 10 times enough to give evidence of what's wrong with most articles here ;=).

Second
This idea is a copy of the "Bistro Romain" method : They Claim "Carpaccio à volonté" (After a plate, you can ask for another one as long as you like !!) I love carpaccio and the falled in this trap : it take 30 minuts minimum between the moment you ask an other plate and the moment you get it :=( Then it take 3 hours minimums to eat for your 10 € !!!

Application here:
Use a time count in such way that a same visitor can't post during the 30 minuts following a previous post.

Pierre,

You've never been deleted because you've never been so far as the likes of Marc Levis, UVF and Bob have been. The problem is that I should have deleted most of their messages for a long time.

I am always ready to discuss about what I post with anyone. But responding to a post by name-calling is not an argument. And if these people can't understand I'm not going to let them call me names without doing anything, they're just stupid.

And for God's sake this is intended as a humorous site. This is a BLOG not a newswire website!! If some people can't handle it, that's too bad for them.

Free speech is fine. But if they want to call us names, they can create their own blog to post their articles. This is not their blog, this is not their property. Have they been too brainwashed by communist propaganda to understand that?

Hurrah!

I abandoned the threads because the meaningful debate was routinely sidelined by pompous, unfunny, ill-informed, ill-mannered, lazy trolls, chauvanists, louts, clowns, yobs, and low-grade idiots.

M. Mike-is-the-best, who gives his e-mail address as "info@deau.com" (I'm sure the folks at Domaine du Chaillaud appreciate his joke), has made cut-and-paste a form of personal expression. He conveniently illustrates both the second and fifth attributes and is representative of the last type enumerated above.

My only complaints about the threads have been when they are off-topic, poorly argued, unsourced, and unfunny. I've no complaints about insults that are germane to the quality of argument offered, but that's quite a different animal from the boorish rudeness of identifying a person with his rectum.

It is true that much posted here is meant to be humorous or tweak the haughty retroussé French snout, but there is also much that calls for serious debate. Pave looks to the opposition for its best arguments the better to perfect our own.

So again, Hurrah!, sweep out the jerks and let's get on with making cases.
