You don't understand, Zoomer knows more about the meanings of words in our language than we do apparently. I have asked him before to back up his use of the term 'racist' in disputes between members of the same race, and he came up with a quote that was seventy years old which uses the term in an obsolete sense. The term he is looking for is not 'race' it is 'nation'.

The difference between our languages is that ours evolves to meet the needs of expressing new ideas encounter in the progress of mankind, French, on the other hand, tries to freeze their language into the same idealogical rigidity that characterizes all of their thinking.

Just a little bit of advice to remember, if we were a tenth as bad as people like Zoomeridiot "knows" we are we would be ten times as overbearing on the world stage as we are.

These are things we *could* do if we were as bad as the global lead paint eaters think we are.

-$15 billion in the world wide AIDS fight gone.
-US foreign aid eliminated.
-US undercutting the Oil for Food program by being able to give Iraq a better price than either Frogistan or Russia.
-We *could* make common cause with the terrorist by pointing out *we* are people of the Book, while at the same time those godless Europeans are trying to secularize their society.
-(On the other hand we could go the opposite extreme. Each time there so much is a car bomb in an American city there will be a nuke going off over an Islamic city.)
-The US establishing the same type of socialized medicine as the rest of the world causing curtailing most of the world's medical advances.
-Global scientific research curtailed.
-Space research eliminated. (I guess we would still have programs which sent robots up so they could be smashed into other planets at high rates of speed.)
-We *could* enact a Smoot-Harley type tariff act and crash the global economic system. We currently have hundreds of billions in a yearly trade deficit. Other countries need to sell their products to us; we could pick up the slack internally.
-We could treat the illegal aliens flooding across our boarder pretty much like any other country in the world treats illegals into their country.
-The next time the lead paint eating Europeans having trouble cleaning up some ethnic cleansing in there back yard we could say "so what, like we care."
-We could be like any other hyperpower in the past, including the Europeans, and establish a true empire.

My point about the music is that it represents a living breathing growing vibrant culture -- not a museum botique culture. Mentioning Piaf (a chanteuse of merit)and Amanda Lear (old disco queen) is an example of contrast.

Since their disasterous revolution, France has been thru monarchies, an empire, 15 constitutions, 5 republics, a civil war, syndicalism, the commune, Vichy, plain old socialism, and several other disasterous experiments.

I guess it is the US's fault for not occupying the place after WWII and insuring a viable democracy took root. Worked well in Germany, South Korea, and Japan -- even Taiwan, though we did that by proxy. Sure they don't always like us, but their not fighting each other.
