Pave Improvements

Thanks to all who contributed ideas to improving Pave. Your "Pal of Pave" loving cup even now is winging its way to your inbox. Drag this beauty into your browser and invite your spouse or current squeeze or liebkinder or your mom to admire the heady honors the world lays at your feet.

Here is a rundown of the various suggestions, followed by the suggestor(s), for an improved Pave:

1. Drinking Threads | Valerie from Texas
We are not sure how this works but if someone will send us a case of quality booze, we'll make something up.

2. Red Meat Exposés | Opinionated Blowhard
We make an effort, but Jack never returns our phone calls.

3. Archives | Opinionated Blowhard, et al.
Long overdue. Sensible suggestion. Better than even chance this gets some loving.

4. Beefcake Photos To Take the Ladies' Minds Off France | Valerie from E-Nough!
Glad to oblige, Pave pal gals. Oooo! Sexy!

5. French Headline Newsfeed | Valerie from E-Nough!
Until we can rig something up, here are some recurring French headlines. Read one each hour, then repeat. Just like the AFP wire: La France Est La meilleure | Le Monde Remercie La France ! Bravo ! | Rien mal en France ! Tout Est Grand ! | Bush doit partir, de gré ou de force !

6. Complimentary Hot Croissants | Valerie from E-Nough!
Once you have visited Pave, go here and ask for your croissant. Please only one hustle per Pave visit.

7. A Resident Translator |Opinionated Blowhard
We are even now working on improving our French.

8. French Pastry Recipes | Papertiger
Celui-ci est délicieux mais difficile !

9. French Economic Indicators | Doug
Yes, well, good luck.

10. Breviloquence | Papertiger
Ok.

UPDATE 02.14.05: If you feel deserving of a pal of Pave loving cup but have not received one, chances are there was a problem with your e-mail address used in the New Year's thread. Several e-mails have been kicked back.

Bonjour,

"Improving your french".

M./Mlle. AntiBrits,

You have had your fun in Pave's threads. Now it is time to reel you in.

Here is where you are and the simple rules therein:

Rule No.1: Pave France is an English language blog. Although we are sure your Mama is happy that you are a clever little boy or girl with enough French to write patchy French and enough politics to twist up English, posts to Pave's threads are English-only.

Rule No.2: The threads are for comments on topical entries. Pave grants wide latitude in visitors' responses, but there needs be a semblance of relevance. Although this post is within topical bounds, your many other out-of-the-blue posts promoting the IRA are a stretch.

Rule No.3: We expect a modicum of civility in language used and attitude to the other members of Pave, whichever side of your argument they fall. Name-calling and insults are allowed if not wholly malicious and they do not exceed a circumspect passion.

In short, post intelligently, relevantly, and nothing that your sainted mother would faint away from reading.

Flagrant contravention of these rules will result in your post being deleted without apology. Welcome to Pave.

[Deleted. As promised.

A few points for the benighted M. /Mlle. AntiBrits:

Pave is an American blog.

The Management is of Irish ancestry.

The IRA is a professional criminal and terrorist enterprise and its promotion is not tolerated here.

Freedom of expression is limited to the rules of the house, as given, and apply to all. If you think you are special and beyond the rules, we will oblige and make you special and beyond the rules by banning your IP address.
