Having earlier located the French mind sunning itself on the beaches of France, Sarko insinuates his minions into the holiday fun.
BROWNED OFF FRENCH SOAK UP POLITICAL MESSAGE ON THE BEACH
LE CAP D’AGDE August 8, 2005 (Times UK) -
[Nicolas] Avillaneda, 22, a member of the ruling centre-right Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) in France, was in the Mediterranean resort of Le Cap d’Agde this weekend to take part in an unlikely campaign. He is among the activists sent by Nicolas Sarkozy, the party’s ambitious chairman, to take his message to the beaches.M Sarkozy, 50, the Interior Minister, wants to reach out to voters who have become disillusioned with a French political class seen as stale and backward-looking. He believes he can convince the sunbathing masses that he has transformed the UMP into a different type of party — one that is dynamic and in tune with the concerns of ordinary people.
Sandrine, from Franconville in the Paris suburbs, was surprised to be plunged into the middle of a political struggle as she soaked up the sun. “We don’t usually talk about politics on holiday,” she said, pointing to her three friends lying on the Plage du Môle in Le Cap d’Agde.
Well, that certainly tapped into voter sentiment.
But lucky Nicolas! Le Cap d’Agde is le plus grand centre du naturist de l'Europe.
Texan correspondent Valerie got wind of this post and writes:
Wish we could check in with "I feel good" Ms. Sandrine in 15 years for her view on things:
A. She won't be in a bikini, but a burka.
B. She won't have a job.
C. She won't be discussing politics because she won't be allowed to vote.
Just my two cents.
The good news? No more bikini waxes!
