ISRAEL WILL BE ANNIHILATED IN ONE STORM, SAYS IRAN LEADER
April 15, 2006 (Telegraph) - In his most vitriolic and anti-semitic attack to date, Mr Ahmadinejad warned that Israel faced imminent destruction."Like it or not, the Zionist regime is heading toward annihilation," he said. "The Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm."
Speaking at the opening of a conference in Teheran to support the Palestinian cause, Mr Ahmadinejad repeated earlier anti-semitic attacks on Israel, questioning the scale of the Nazi Holocaust and attacking Zionism. ... The land of Palestine, he said, referring to the British mandated territory that includes all of Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, "will be freed soon". He did not say how this would be achieved, but insisted to the audience of at least 900: "Believe that Palestine will be freed soon." The president provoked world outcry last October when he said Israel should be "wiped off the map".
Keep in mind that this is the man M. Douste-Blazy is ready to negotiate with while pretending not to comprehend what he plainly says or what Iran has plainly admitted doing. Having sandbagged the United States, having been played by the Iranians, having completely failed in three years of "negotiations" to, if not prevent, forestall Iranian enrichment by a single day, well, having failed in the most completest possible way, France holds out for yet another go at the talking cure.
Heads up, Europa! This is another preview of the bold perspicacious leadership you can depend on from France in her big multipolar club.
Nation states, as a rule, do not pick fights that are low-percentage plays.

How long does it take to enrich enough Uranium to make a nuclear weapon if one already has an enrichment cascade and consistently adds centrifuges to that cascade? The following calculator allows a user to specify the number of centrifuges in the initial cascade, the yearly Separative Work Unit capacity of each centrifuge, and the number of centrifuges added to the cascade per day. From this information, the user is then provided with an estimate of the number of days and years it would take to produce 50kg of highly-enriched (90% U235) Uranium; the amount required for a gun-type weapon assembly. In regards to recent events, the user may wish to choose 165 centrifuges as this is the number that Iran claims to have operating in its present enrichment program at the Natanz facility. It should also be noted that P-1 centrifuges can be run at 2-3 kgSWUs per year and that P-2 type centrifuges can run up to 5 kgSWUs per year.
Hmmm. Select (165). Click (5). Click (1). Click (Enrich).
It will take approximately 1079 days ( 2.96 years) to obtain 50 kilograms of highly-enriched Uranium (90% U235).
Plenty of time to cobble together winning concessions. Here's a suggestion, chocolates. Maybe a big box of French chocolates will win Mr. Ahmadinejad over to the French position.

It was just a matter of time before Monsieur je-sais-tout would blame France on the Iran impasse...
So perhaps Damian could enlighten us as why North Korea - a far more oppressive regime than Iran - has repeatedly stuck its finger at the US ever since the Clinton administration?
