Jack's Poodles I

[There is no future for our world and the francophonie without peace. The tragedy that, alas, once again, comes from bloody Lebanon, strongly reminds you, reminds us. We cannot tolerate that within our family discord propagates fires. Everywhere, we must favor dialogue and negotiation.]

Jack,
laying it on thick at the
XIème sommet de la Francophonie
BUCHAREST September 28, 2006 (Palais de l'Élysée)

When Jack proscribes dissent among Francophonie states, he is a conciliator. When he chastises EU candidate states for falling out of line with French policy or whim, he is the guardian of their interests. When nation states follow France's lead they are partners, great civilizations, and all-around marvelous.

When nation states align with America they are poodles.

Though Jack frightens small children and nations with the boogey-man of American hegemony, no one works harder at hegemony than Jack. But being a founding member of a great clutter of nation clubs is not the same thing as being a great nation.

Jack will take two regrets to his grave, that Jimmy Carter was awarded Jack's Nobel prize and that he never put together a French multipolar coalition that could best America.
