We wish to disclaim our several footnotes identifying Jean-Baptiste Mattéi as the presiding health minister during the French heat deaths crisis of 2003. The Ministre de la Santé, de la Famille et des personnes handicapées at that time was Jean-François Mattéi.

We regret our error and apologize to M. Jean-Baptiste Mattéi, who amuses us from the Quai d"Orsay, for impugning him with the incompetence of M. Jean-François Mattéi.
