GERMANS DROP QUAERO PARTNERSHIP WITH FRANCE

December 21, 2006 (SEW) - Seems the Germans can't get along with the French - what a surprise. The joint venture to create a European search engine to take on Google - Quaero - is now left in the hands of the French alone.

No one is openly stating what has happened but the Germans have been working on another search project - Theseus - the king in Greek mythology who found his way through the labyrinth.

... Neither the French or the Germans have openly admitted the reasons for the split - or in some cases that a split has even occurred. While France spokespeople have said there are people in Germany who are still working on the project.

In any sort of French partnership there is an equitable distribution of responsibilities. The French are responsible for taking credit for achievements, bossing everyone about, and finding fault with America. The non-French partners are responsible for actually achieving something, accepting blame for mistakes, delays, and failures, and cleaning up after French press conferences.
