30 décembre 2006 (Figaro) - Le ministère de l'Intérieur a mobilisé 25 000 agents et des moyens techniques nouveaux pour prévenir les débordements.

La Place Beauvau sort le grand jeu pour la Saint-Sylvestre. Pas moins de 25 000 policiers et gendarmes seront déployés sur le terrain dès dimanche après-midi, dont 7 000 CRS et gendarmes mobiles. Des avions seront aussi réquisitionnés pour détecter de jour sur les toits des cités les éventuels projectiles entassés pour être lancés sur les forces de l'ordre. Et des hélicoptères équipés d'une vidéo infrarouge patrouilleront dans le ciel pour filmer de nuit les inévitables casseurs, tandis que le copilote guidera les unités au sol avec un puissant projecteur pour faciliter les interpellations.

No less than 25,000 police officers and gendarmes will be deployed in the field as of Sunday afternoon, including 7,000 CRS {Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité belonging to the national police force} and the gendarmes mobiles {anti-riot police belonging to the national military police force}. Planes are also requisitioned for daytime detection of possible projectiles stored on estate {i.e., public housing} roofs to throw at the police. Helicopters equipped with infra-red video will patrol overhead to film at night the inevitable hoodlums, while the copilot will guide units on the ground with a powerful spotlight to help with criminal apprehensions.

1 janvier 2007 (Le Monde) - "Une centaine" de véhicules avaient été signalés brûlés dimanche soir selon un bilan de mi-soirée arrêté à 23H00 le 31 décembre, un nombre jugé "équivalent" à celui du 31 décembre 2005 à la même heure, avait souligné la DGPN.

Les services de police contactés localement peu après minuit faisaient en général état d'une "nuit calme".
