It doesn't get more desperate than invoking civil war.
We know Ségo is now today's fish wrap, but we wanted to revisit the above dire pronouncement introduced at the end of her campaign.
Think for a minute about Ségo's warning and its underlying premises. First, it posits criminal forces ready to riot if they do not get their way. Second, what these forces want or will accept is a Ségo presidency. Third, Ségo does not repudiate the forces nor does she call for them to forbear and respect the democratic procession of the Republic. Fourth, instead, she has co-opted the threats of these criminal forces in hopes of political advantage, essentially arguing that to vote her into office will smooth down the threat and will appease its criminal agents.
Ségo apparently saw nothing wrong with being elected by extorting the Republic.
Regular readers know we do not care for Ségo. She ran a poor campaign (and this and this and this and this), often confusing (and this and this), often strident (and this and this and this). But we did not think her stupid. Yet she says this stupid thing. [Pause.] Ah, the depths to which straitened ambitions will stoop.
