May 6, 2007 (France 24) - Nicolas Sarkozy, leader of the ruling conservative UMP, has won the second round of the French presidential election with 53% of votes, according to projections from TNS-Sofres Logica CMG for TF1, RTL and FRANCE 24. His opponent, Socialist candidate Ségolène Royal trailed behind with 43% ballots.
Le Monde puts the numbers at 53.5%/46.5. Figaro rounds down Sarko and rounds up Ségo, 53%/47%.
Ségo had no last-minute juju.

We think today's election is the final word on who lost Wednesday's debate. The electorate, some 20 million of whom watched the debate, have overruled the media. Everywhere the MSM is learning this hard lesson, the public doesn't want news tainted with editorial "analysis". It can make up its own mind about things given the facts.
