Blue Ocean Traders invests in customer experience

Home décor supplier Blue Ocean Traders announced changes that officials say are aimed at improving the customer experience.

The Louisville, Ky.-based resource announced that the sales team has been restructured and expanded to better personalize the ordering journey and to increase coverage. Second, a cloud-based Enterprise Retail Planning (ERP) system will be implemented by March 2021.

“By the summer shows, Blue Ocean Traders will deliver real-time inventory information to help our customers manage their buying decisions with greater confidence,” said Chris Conley, director of sales. “This technology is especially useful for on-the-spot purchasing with tight delivery turn-around. Now, we will be able to provide our customers with greater assurance that they will get what they need in the time they want.”

The ERP system is an integrated application that is tailored to gain efficiencies across the entire supply chain process at Blue Ocean Traders. Complementing this move, David Gentry has been named director of warehouse operations. Gentry has a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Louisville.

“David brings more than 20 years of experience in logistics and operations, including an extensive background in ERP implementation and process improvement,” said Jason Mulvene, owner of Blue Ocean Traders. “We are thrilled to have him on our team during this very important evolution to our supply chain management.”
