Hall of Fame Foundation receives IFDA grant

HIGH POINT — The American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation was awarded an Ina Mae Kaplan Historic Preservation Grant by the International Furnishings and Design Assn. to fund new, archival-grade storage equipment for historical documents, photographs, documentary videos and objects.

It is one of just five grants awarded by the IFDA’s Educational Foundation Board of Trustees.

“This grant is earmarked specifically for the preservation of some 2,000 pieces of rare and irreplaceable memorabilia, including original drawings by Frank Lloyd Wright, sketches from Mary Webb Wood and original sales catalogs from the 19th century,” said Dr. Kyle Hughes, historian for the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame.

“We are prioritizing purchasing equipment and materials that will allow us to preserve, as well as exhibit and study, our industry’s historical collection in our new permanent home,” set to open in 2022.
